CFS: Doctoral Education Conference (Posters)

Call for Posters: 2009 Doctoral Education Conference, January 21-24, 2009, Hotel del Coronado, San Diego, California

Health Systems Transformation and Doctoral Education in Nursing: A New Era

Poster Presentations will occur Friday, January 23, 2009, 7:15-8:30 a.m.

The American Association of Colleges of Nursing invites poster presentations that showcase approaches to doctoral education that echo any aspect of the conference theme. Abstracts that address initiatives in doctoral education to prepare policy makers and leaders in the health care system are especially solicited. Examples include such topics as implementing new programs, courses, or initiatives in either research or practice doctoral programs; nontraditional curricular or instructional approaches; or particularly noteworthy or successful leader development approaches embedded in doctoral programs. Poster presentations will occur during the continental breakfast on Friday morning of the conference.

Abstracts should describe original, unpublished work and can include work in progress. The planning committee will select abstracts that reflect the broadest range of initiatives in doctoral education, and represent the widest possible variety of member schools’ size, characteristics, and geographical area.

Abstract Format:
a) The abstract must be typed in Word in 12 point Times New Roman font. All text for the abstract must fit on one page with one-inch margins all around. The body of the abstract should be single-spaced. Do not use a page border or graphics.
b) The following text should appear centered and single-spaced as the first lines on the abstract:
Line 1: Title of your abstract (in all capital letters)
Line 2: The author and co-author names and credentials
Line 3: Institution/organization
Line 4: City and state
c) Leave one space between the city and state line and the body of the abstract.
d) Each abstract must be accompanied by the contact information form.

Due Date: Each abstract and contact information form will be submitted electronically to Erica Turner, at eturner@aacn.nche.edu , and are due by November 7, 2008. You will receive an email message confirming receipt of the abstract submission. If you have not received an acknowledgement within 3 business days, that indicates that AACN has not received your abstract. Please call the office (202-463-6930) to check.

Acceptance Notification: Authors will be notified about the status of their submission(s) via email no later than December 1, 2008. This should be sufficient time to meet the hotel cutoff of December 21 and the conference registration deadline of January 2.
