Philosophizing Social Justice in Nursing: The 14th International Philosophy of Nursing Conference in Association with the International Philosophy of Nursing Society (IPONS) September 20-22, 2010, Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada
Mark your calendars and plan to attend the 14th International Philosophy of Nursing Conference sponsored by the University of British Columbia School of Nursing in Vancouver, Canada. We are delighted to welcome IPONS and all who share a fascination for philosophical thinking from a nursing perspective to a lively and enthusiastic dialogue on a theme of immediate relevance to our discipline and to society.
CALL FOR ABSTRACTS: Abstracts on the theme of Philosophizing Social Justice in Nursing (or on any philosophical aspect of health care practice, research or education) are invited. At this time we are calling for Abstract submissions for papers for oral presentation. Paper presentations will be 20 minutes in length, followed by 10 minutes for discussion. Abstract submission will be in two phases:
- First Call – firm due date: March 1, 2010 with acceptance decisions by April 1, 2010
- Second Call – firm due date: June 1, 2010 with acceptance decisions by June 15, 2010
The first call is timed to ensure that international delegates have written acceptance in ample time to make travel arrangements. The second call allows for submissions closer to the actual date, but may be more limited in terms of the number of abstracts that can be accepted. Submissions not accepted in the first call may be revised for reconsideration in the second round.
ABSTRACT SUBMISSION GUIDELINES: Submit a 250 word abstract for your proposed oral paper, including:
- Focus of paper
- Typeset in single-spaced, 12 point font, lay out on one page.
- On a separate page, specify the author(s), including degrees, titles, and agency affiliations. Identify presenting authors by underlining their name(s). Provide contact information for the first author.
Please submit your abstract by (by e-mail attachment, in MS Word or Word Perfect) to the Scientific Review Committee at IPONS2010@nursing.ubc.ca
